Hello everyone, first post here. I just had a question about a truck I may be purchasing here in the next couple of days.
I am supposed to talk to the guy this Sunday for a test drive. It is a 2003 GMC Sierra, 5.3L Z71. He is asking $4500 for it. It has some dings and scratches here and there, needs a driver side fog lamp, and has 178,000 miles. The only real major thing was that a drunk driver hit the side of him on the front. He had the door and quarter panel replaced, but they are just a primer black right now. He was pretty up front about telling me he had been hit...didn't try to hide it or anything. Being prior military myself I feel pretty confident (most of the time) buying from another military man, and the dude seems pretty honest. He said he had it checked out and there wasn't any frame damage. Does anyone know a rough estimate of what it would cost to get these painted? Never had to take a car in for paint before so I don't know much about the average costs.
Anyway, I was just curious if all you guys out there would consider this a good deal? Like I said, it's an 03', 178k miles, Z71 package with all the bells and whistles inside, has a toolbox in the back, etc. I'm pretty strapped for cash right now being in college and all, and I need a new vehicle (My 1990 Nissan 300ZX is a heap), and $4500 for a truck that is in this condition seems like a pretty decent deal to me. I included a couple of pictures that my parents took for me of it today (I just moved down here to start school and they have been kind enough to help me look for a car). They didn't get a shot of it when they took the pics, and I forgot my camera when I went today, but the side with the replaced panel and door looks really good, just needs paint.
