Hi,

- I have never owned any GMC vehicles before.
- We are looking for a new mid-size SUV and like GMC Acadia Denali 2017 a lot.
Awesome looks, great driving dynamics, nice acceleration, nice interiors etc.

- But wanted help from current GMC owners regarding reliability of Acadia's in-general.
-- How is typical build quality
-- Would it require too much expense on servicing over long term? KBB lists cost-of-ownership above average for Acadia, due to higher than average maintenance costs. Does that sound correct?
-- 2017 Acadia has very nice Infotainment system with lots of features, but do current owners experience lot of issues with their infotainment systems?
Esp. Apple Car Play and Android Auto seem very nice features.
-- Any long term issues with Engine and/or transmission?
1) I think 2017 has their new High-performance V6(LGX) engine. So probably not much data is available
2) But it has its 6speed transmission (6T70) which has been around for a while. So wondering if it has seen any issues in longer term? I have seen that its clutch plates had issues in 2015 year, are they still there?

-- How has been owners experience with its Safety systems, are they reliable in long term?
Blind spot detection, Adaptive Cruise Control , Forward collision detection.

- All-in-all I need help to determine if (1) Acadia's have good build quality and reliability and (2) If typically folks have bought or leased their Acadias.

Any information will be highly appreciated, really like the new 2017 Acadia.

As for the adaptive cruise control - I had it once, would never, ever want it again! I felt it was absolutely frightening turning way too much control over to the vehicle! The other two "safety" things, you can turn them off if they become a PITA! It is, after all, a very personal thing!

Overall, I believe the vehicle has a good reliability factor; however, bear in mind the 2017 is a bit different than earlier models such as our 2016. We traded a 2008 SRX for the GMC mostly because we didn't like the newer SRX; crappy ride, looks too much like a Saturn, and a few other reasons. Previously we had a 2006 SRX, and held onto the 2008 mostly for these reasons.

Now, as for lease versus buy; in the past we often leased mostly because I we were wanting a new vehicle every 3 to 4 years. If you plan to keep a vehicle for a very long time; i.e., 6 or more years, it really doesn't make too much difference, lease or buy. Without getting into details or evaluating personal prejudices on leases, and thinking in terms of a 3 year finance or a 3 year lease, if you want a low payment on a finance, the "down payment" must come at the beginning; if you want it on a lease, the "down payment" comes at the end of the lease.

In the most simplest terms, it is pay me now, or pay me later...

Thanks for the information.
Yeah since 2017 is new platform , new engine etc, reliability of previous models might not reflect that of 2017.

How has been your experience with GMC so far with regards to customer experience and prompt response with regards to any issues (if you had any at all) you had with your Acadia?

Have heard Lexus, Acuras are pretty good at that.

Well, I think they are trying hard. I did business for many years and had a variety of vehicles from this dealer, starting with a Trans Am GTA back in 1988. Since then, and until 2008, I purchased or leased 2 GMC Jimmys, an Oldsmobile Bravada, Intrigue, a Pontiac Grand Prix, a 4 door GMC Sonoma, and finally in 2006 a Buick Lucerne with the "Northstar" V8. These were all new, and there were a few used cars as well.

The Lucerne was an absolute POS! I wanted the dealer to buy it back and they refused, so I moved back to Cadillac and obtained a 2008 STS.

When my wife wanted to replace her 2008 SRX, we shopped the new 2016 SRX and found it absolutely dreadful! Cadillac should be embarrassed to put their logo on this car! With the only other Cadillac SUV offering except for an Escalade, we decided to go back to GMC and the same dealer who stiffed me on the Buick! They were happy to have us back, and so far, seem to be trying hard to make us happy.

Next Monday, the Acadia goes in for the first service visit since acquiring the car three months ago, so we'll see how it goes. Oh and by the way, I'm still driving a Cadillac having traded my STS for a, XTS a couple of months ago. Except for a tilt and telescope wheel on the Acadia Denali that does not work correctly (see my other post), so far, so good...
