Hello all....

I own a 1998 Suburban 1500. I have a problem where you will feel a hesitation or stuttering from 45-65. Under steady light acceleration or just holding speed, you feel what seems like a misfire. I have no MIL light coming on. I have changed wires, plugs, cap, rotor (vehicle died on my wife, changed cap and rotor and started running fine, this problem occured a few weeks later). I am getting steady 50 psi fuel pressure at idle, 63 psi under hard acceleration (and no skipping) and 52-57 psi when the vehicle feels like it's acting up. The fuel pressure gauge also fluctuates at those times, too. My next guess was to change out the fuel pump (143K on vehicle and the fuel gauge sending unit doesn't work right anyways) but wanted to get someone else's opinion. Of course this happens just before we're supposed to head out of town. Thanks in advance!

Just a thought -
Could the fuel filter be clogged / clogging up and restricting
the amount of gas that's getting to the motor ?

And - On the bright side , at least you weren't 1/2 way across the
country when it started acting up.

OK, let me stand on my soap box. Now, you may want to single out a bad tank of fuel before you start replacing components. Burn that tank of fuel, throw in some injector cleaner if you want to, and then recheck your symptoms. I'm all for replacing the fuel filter too.
