how do you remove the ignition key lock assy - 1998 GMC Sonoma?

the key will not turn at all

take off the streering wheel and then remove the set screew that holds the ignition in then it will slode right out

Your all wrong, it's the gear shifter.

These cars allways do this, if your on a hill it's worse.

Have a person-persons push on the car to unstress the pressure on the trans, then move the shifter into park.

This will work.

Try wiggling the steering wheel. Sometimes the steering column will lock up as such not allowing you to turn or remove the key.
