Hi I have a 2000 GMC Sierra with suicide doors and the front passenger is always really loud from the wind, it must not be sealed very tight, so I'm just wondering if there is a way I can get rid of that annoying noise! Thanks!

There are ways to adjust the hinges or striker/latch so that the door closes tighter...or the frame around the window can be "bent" slightly if there is too much space between it and the weatherstripping with the door closed. Or sometimes the weatherstripping has crushed and won't seal properly...you might get away with putting "backer strips" or foam stripping behind the weatherstrip or replacing it. A good bodyshop tech can usually adjust the door fairly cheaply or let you know if something else is wrong.

You can test how well the door seals to the weatherstrip by closing the door while holding a piece of paper or dollar bill between the door and weatherstrip at various points.....with the door closed, try pulling the paper out from between the door and w/strip and see how hard or easy it is to do so. The spots where it is easy are where the door needs to be adjusted or seal better. If the bad areas are around the window frame, you can try to do an adjustment yourself.

Roll down the window, brace your knee against the inside door trim and yank somewhat hard on the window frame in the top areas where the paper slipped through easily. You basically want to bend the top length of the window frame inwards a little bit to make it close tighter against the weatherstrip and reduce wind noise. I've done it a number of times and it's pretty easy to do for me (6'3" 190 lbs) but if you feel reluctant, have a body tech do it for you...most know how it's done and it won't affect how the window rolls up or down.

With a 10 year old vehicle, it's also possible the weatherstrip is too crushed to seal properly and needs to be replaced.

I have had this same issue for YEARS, on my 2000. I literally have to slam the third door and the front pass door to get a good seal. Is this a seal prob or a door alignment prob?
