just bought the truck, drove 400km home. everything is fine exept the e-brake barely works (it makes a bit of noise but cant hold the slightest slope) and the brake pedal must be pressed really deep to start the braking, and this is annoying. what is wrong? can i fix it myself? how much is it gonna cost?

edit: it is a 99 4x4 extended cab 5spd, so it has rear brake discs, if that changes anything and i guess it does.

If it's only a cable adjustment, probably less than an hour

If the cable(s) were broken, it wouldn't work at all & no resistance on pedal.

If the cable(s) were seized up from lack of use, you wouldn't be able to push the pedal down or if you did force it, it may not release.

My guess would be an hr max to adjust- based on my '98 2wd w/rear drums (the adjustments in the cable on mine)

guess what, my fucking engine just blew up while driving today.

screw the handbrake
