How to fit a after market speakers into a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 Ext.Cab?

I am planning to replace my stock speakers with after market speakers. I ask because as was taking off the stock speakers, I notice that my 6.5 and 4x6 after market speakers will not stay on unless I drill holes to keep them in place. Do I need a speaker adapter to keep my new speakers in place without drilling holes or do I need to?

There are adapter plates sold at car part stores. Drilling is the easiest and cheapest way though. Before you do anything, remember, you cannot un-drill a hole. Measure first and mark before drilling.
