what types of lifts and and adjestments would i need to be able to put 35" tires on my stock sierra? do i need bigger rims too ?

Bigger rims, probably not, depends on whats on there now. (saw on tire rack they have d**k cepeks in 35s for 15 inch rims) although if you have stock rims a 35 inch tall tire might look funny if the rims are narrow.
I know I put a 2.5 inch lift/level on my 05 2wd and its 'supposed' to be good for up to a 32, so someone will have to chime in on suspension kits for what ya wanna do.

A 6" suspension lift would clear 35"s
I'm getting a 6" procomp lift and putting 35"s on it. Though I was talking to a guy from Performance Improvements, he said the Rancho 4" lift would clear 35"s cause' the spindles or something were designed differently.
You might have to do some trimming on your bumper if they rub.

Here is a link that should help you answer all the lift questions you may have. It's http://www.readylift.com/default.aspx and they have been one of the more reliable truck lift manufactures in the market and you can address any custom questions you may have.

Good luck and hope this helped. :D
