Humming noise from front passenger side?

Hi.. It's my dad's truck. A 2001 4x4 Jimmy. He has a humming noise that seems to be coming from the front passenger side. Tires were rotated, new brakes installed still has the hum. Seems to notice more around 30mph. It's not a grind sound line a bearing, more like a snow tire type hum... Any ideas what else to look at?

Sounds like it's the wheel bearing or a bad ball joint, but most likely it's the wheel bearing. Raise the wheel off the ground and see if you can feel any wheel play on the tire, any small play will give you the humming you described. Good luck

Yes they are sealed bearing and food for thought's which has happened to me more then once. the vacuum switch on top of the transfer case goes bad and keeps the front differential locked. The switch goes for around $25.00 at Auto Zone or Napa and takes about 15 min to replace, just un-clip the three vacuum line harness on top of the switch and with a open end wrench. Undo the switch, it's tight but it can be done. Good luck and hope it's the vacuum switch that has gone bad. With the front hub, your going to need an impact gun to remove the axle nut from the hub.

Had that issue with a friends Jimmy, found out that is was the wheel hub assembly, I notice that sometimes on mine as well....

I now have a problem while doing about 49mph a bad humming coming from passenger side. When I come to a stop it seems to engage because I get this clunk. I am guessing I installed in incorrectly but checked it a few times and seems good.
Is there anything else that needs to be done?

Under the battery tray is where your vacuum 4wd axle actuator is located. Inspect the cable to the front pumpkin for any binding and replace if there is any signs of binding. This can be done from the hole behind the passenger side head light when removed and from under the Jimmy.
