I have a 2005 K1500(4x4) 5.3L H.O. engine designation "B". I just installed a Hypertech Max programmer (decent results in power and mpg). The programmer seems to balance out or "play well" with my AFE air intake system. Anyone install one of these programmers? What settings did you use? I'm interested in the RPM rev limit, shift point limit, shift firmness, and thermostat setting.

Thanks Nachi!

hypertech

just got one of these for my 08 sierra sle texas edition 5.3lgas. I also put on a kn intake, airaid throttle bodyspacer, flowmaster dump, and remove wafer from maf sensor. I run mine on 91 octane performance mode. only had it about a week. about to get in to it and play with other settings. the rev limit will help you start your next gear in "prime" rpm levels instead of factory type levels. be careful with shift firmness, cause my step dad crack his flywheel raising that on his truck. you are just gonna have to get in there and find what you like. different strokes for different folks!!

Yup, I actually called the Techs at Hyper got some base line input numbers then played around until I liked what I felt - I actually dialed it down since I use 87 octane. I DID not take the rev limit all the way to max as they suggested that just messes with the shift pts and overheats the engine - I went + 400. I adjusted the shift firmness to 50% and thats all I'll go. Adjusted the tire size and speed rating etc. I adjusted the shift pts per their instructions based on the rev limit but tailored each gear shift accordingly: 1-2 +400, 2-3 +300, and 3-4 +300. left the temp at stock 195. no pinging, no detonation etc. runs smooth and awesome! MPG? its about the same but I got a couple more horses and some torque for 4x4 camping
