I recently bought an '04 GMC Envoy and when I turn the ignition to on it

makes a crackle/rattling sound? I have had this vehicle for a little less than 2 weeks and it just started doing this today. Not only does the noise occur when it is turned TO on but it occurs when I shut off the engine or start the car (and a little more loudly and intensely I might add) or if the vehicle is in nuetral and you give it gas. The noise is less noticable when running (it seems to "calm down" and lessen). And it hasn't seemed to affect the drive ability when in use or in idle while stopped but I know the sound shouldn't be occuring.

What is going on?

Can I do anything to get Titus Will to fix it (they told us that they safety inspect all their vehicles and the vehicles must pass to be put in the lot. The ones that don't pass get put in a different lot, and the buyer is notifyed of the problems with the vehicle before they buy it - which wasn't our case). HELP! Thanks.

Sounds like your electric cooling fan has failed and will need to be replaced, Try pulling the cooling fan relay from under the hood fuse box, there will be a check engine light that will come on without the relay in place. With the relay out see if there is any difference in your Envoy as to if the noise has gone away. If the noise is gone, then your cooling fan clutch needs to be replaced.

Keep me posted and don't forget to place the relay back in after you tested your fan clutch after you come back from your test drive.
