Hi guys, I changed out my idler pulley last week on my 1997 Jimmy because it was chirping ..Driving me nuts. After I replaced it about a week later it starting chirping again so I gave it a couple of shots of lube on the back side of the pulley and bingo the noise would dissappear. I am noticing when it rains then the next day when I start the truck up it would chirp then driving for a bit the noise will completely dissappear. intermitten...Only chirps the next day after a rainfall. when the weather is warm no noise

I am thinking moisture has something to due with it??...Any help would be appreciated

Driving me crazy

My idler pulley chirped as well after replacement. It actually turned out to be the belt. As the engine was running, I held a bar of soap along one side and then the other until the belt was well covered and the chirping stopped. Be careful though, don't get caught up in the fan!

Ahh interesting..thanks....

I did notice that my belt has bit of glazing on it.....So maybe the belt should be replaced?
