Ignition Control Module 2000 GMC Jimmy

Symptoms:
1. Car dies while driving randomly. No indication of any problems, just all of a sudden dies. It's happened on the freeway, and its happened backing out of a parking spot. First few times, I still had radio and lights, today when it happened everything seized, zero power. Couldn't even get the key to turn back to the position to get it out of the ignition. After 20 or so minutes, suddenly it got power back and I was able to start it after a few tries.

2. After freeway driving for 40 minutes, the dash lights started coming on every time I stepped on the brakes. At the same time, the radio would cut out for a second. No loss of any power.

The first symptom I had was about 3 years ago, it's died while driving about 1-2x per year until the past week, it's getting to be very frequent.

Thoughts? I was told the ignition Module, but is there anything else I should be looking at?

Inspect your fuse block and wire harness from the fuse box under the hood. The connections at the fuse box maybe corroded which can cause all the issues you have mentioned.

Start with that and keep us posted, good luck. ;)

Molson - I just got it back from the mechanic. It turns out it was a loose connection at the power distribution box. They tightened that up and sent me on my way. They inspected other connections and found nothing. Hoping that corrects the issue but since they weren't able to duplicate the problem at the shop, there is no telling for sure. Thanks for your post and I will keep the forum posted if more issues arise. Thank you!
