Hello Everyone. I am new to the GMC forum and please accept my apologies if there has been a previous posts to my problem. I have a 2004 GMC Envoy XL with close to ~140k miles on it. When driving the vehicle, between 0 - 30/40mph, it makes a grinding noise, like it is not going into gear. This does not happen all the time and is infrequent, but it bothers me especially when I have two small children in the vehicle. I do not "trust" the vehicle and would like to get it fixed. I have brought it to the dealer, have test drove it but since the noise in infrequent, they do not know where to begin. The service technician that drove the vehicle thought that it may be the 4x4 going into gear but was not 100% sure. Has anyone had a similar experience with the grinding noise and would you know what is causing it (e.g. wheel bearing, drive train, 4x4, etc.)? Please help. Still love the look of the vehicle and hate to give it up because of this. Thank you for your responses.
