I have a new Sierra Crew Cab, SLT, Bose, Steering Wheel Control, XM, Backup Camera, USB port in center console, bluetooth. All of these work but are not user friendly.

I want to update the head unit to an all in one unit with GPS, Audio, IPod, bluetooth. I have installed new systems in cars but many years ago when I was just dealing with the radio/dvd only. Not a control unit like we have today.

Is it really that difficult to do this? All the stereo installation stores want to charge close to $1000 for adapters and labor they say will take only a few hours.

Anyone have experience with this? If it is prudent to have it installed I will do that but thought I would try to get other opinions.

Thanks in advance.

if you go on crutchfield.com they will tell you everything you need and usually give it to you for free when you buy a headunit. They make it very simple, dont waste your money, you could install it yourself
