I have a 2005 GMC Sierra, recently I developed a sporadic failure of all gauges on dash except speedometer and tach. Including power windows/locks. Initially this was only occasionally if I turned key to start while running it may reset and everything works normally. Now nothing hardly ever works. The message center also seems to be effected, I get errors as service 4WD, and trip odometer does not work. When lights are on auto and I turn key to start while running in an attmept to reset and check fuel lights go out. Driving lights seem to work in manual mode (high beam indicator light dos not). I have replaced the ignition switch and checked battery terminals and all good. I have had bad airbag/ABS module for some time but have elected to not get fixed yet because of price.

dmay4,
I would like to apologize for the issues that you are experiencing with your Sierra. If you are unable to get this issue addressed I would recommend that you have your dealer look into this for you. They may be in the best position to assist you in getting this issue diagnosed. Please keep me posted and if you have any other questions please feel free to contact me anytime.
Thank you,

I would also check to main fuse block under the hood by chance. Sounds like all these are related to a common problem so my be a common bulk connector or a ground.

2005 GMC Sierra 1500

I also have a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500, with sporadic failure/dimming of all gauges on dash. If I adjust the Light intensity dial it works occasionally. In addition my Speedometer will sometimes jut drop to Zero. Has anyone found a Fix to this issue?

I had all my dash lights stop functioning on my 2003 Sierra Denali one time, kind of flashed off and on and then stayed off. I don't know if the speedo and tach stopped because I had just parked in my garage and didn't pay attention to the tach since it wasn't really working anyway (the known dash issues with those model years). Anyway, I used to run with my dash lights set fairly dim by the intensity dial, after that happened I moved the dial back and forth and it didn't really do anything. I restarted the truck with the lights at full bright on the dial and they worked and have worked ever since. I just never dim the dash lights anymore. A relative had an 88 Lincoln that did the same thing when he kept his dash lights dim. I don't know if it is related to the problem or not just letting everyone know about my experience.

i had to have the dash replaced on my wifes 04 trailblazer full gauge cluster no idiot lights when the dealer replaced it they told us it is a common problem my wifes started years ago gas gage first then the tach the drive motors of the gages go bad
a friend had there dash replaced on there 05 trailblazer
