I've been looking around at cars and my mom thinks that a gmc sonoma would be the best choice, but shes just looking at the fact that ill have no room for passengers. ( nj state law says a driver under a provisional license can only have one non-relative in the car) I've been looking around to see the pros and cons of this vehicle, and it seems so have so many problems. whata you think?

I wouldn't get this car. it is probably the worst car GM makes in terms of ride quality, efficiency, reliability, and fit & finish, but GM really makes some pretty great cars. I would recommend the chevy equinox because it is a crossover(has good seating but rides kind of like an SUV) and because it excels in everything I listed above. (you could also get its GMC sibling, the terrain.) Get this because at first you wouldn't use much of the seats, ( 5 seats) but after you fully learn to drive, you will be happy that you bought on of the best vehicles on the road. this would last you 15+ years and still be one of the best on the road.

The GMC Sonoma is a very outdated truck. It essentially is the same thing as the Chevrolet S-10, which fall into the category of a compact pick up.

As for problems, they aren't too problematic, however when they do, it will be extremely cheap to fix.

If you are set on a pickup, I would suggest a Toyota Tacoma before anything (I guess the Californian is coming out now). Much better, much more reliable.

If I were you though, I'd look at either a car (and save some gas) or go with an SUV. Your mom may think having fewer seats is better, but ideally you want something safe, cheap to maintain, and will last. I can't say that a Sonoma/S-10 will.
