So I posted a thread earlier in regards to my problems i've had so far with my 98 Jimmy. I'm pretty certain I have to replace diffs but it might not be such a bad thing..

I wanted to start making it into an off roader. I live in Winnipeg MB so roads are very rough and having it tuned for the roads would be an added bonus!

Anyway long story short I eventually wanna jack it up a bit, put bigger tires on it and give her a bit more power. My question is, what order I should upgrade it? keeping in mind I must start with diffs and work possibly to suspension because the struts are starting to squeak as well. Is there a better diff for offroading I should consider? I may not have money for a few months to do anything too major but the diff this week. I was maybe going to look into an offroading diff but would I have to upgrade something along with it? Or would it be fine to run just that until I can do more to drive terrain, lift it up and work on engine?

It's in really good shape for it's year, fully loaded and runs great besides the periodic grinding from the diff. I'm really trying to stay optimistic about this and fix everything up to make it perfect.

I have a few friends who know about this stuff but no one really wants to give me their ideas lol.. Any help would be really appreciated!

From what you have described, you may have a G80 Lock failed on you. I wouldn't drive it anymore before you cause more damage to the rear end since its still moving from what i understand.

Replace the Easton G80 Locker with a Detroit Truetrac which is more durable. You can replace your shock with Rancho Shocks RS5000 and will last for quite some times.

As for raising your jimmy, its just going to end up being a money pit when you do that. Keep it stock height as it was designed. The ZR2 has different suspension and axle to give it that raised look.

Added power, just a good intake, exhaust and a Custom tune to your ECM. Hand held tuners are OK, but doesn't bring out the pull potential of your engine.

Good luck and keep us posted:cool::cool:
