Okay so the other day I was at a red light and when it turned green I went to go and suddenly it was as if I was on ice/dyno. The roma went up and the engine started working harder but I accelerated incredibly slowly.
Once I get to speed, I'm okay, but when I try and gain speed from a stand still I have like NO action.

I checked my transmission fluid it's old brown and not very happy so I have decided when money comes in to do a transmission flush.

Anyone have any insight or thoughts?
It's a 99 jimmy 4door

insight - thought :
Your post is confusing ( for me ), if it was like you were ice / dyno , that to me means the wheels were spinning real fast but you weren't going anywhere . Is this the case ?
And -
What is a " roma " ?

Also - search the tran. threads , there are those here ( a resident expert ) that recommends AGAINST a TYPE of flush ( back flush I think ) .

Also also - If you can , get a scan from a parts store and see if it will show a code.

Rpm's sorry, this damn iPhone I swear.

No the wheels aren't spinning like they're on I've, it's just the same when I accelerate it feels like I'm just spinning tires (not going anywhere but engine is still revving up)

I'll continue to search the threads, the car still drives I find it's happier if I manually shift instead of using "D". But I don't want to drive anywhere I dont have to.
As for buyin a code scanner, the budget just doesn't allow for it unfortunately. I'm going to school right now so times are hard enough lol.

Some parts stores will scan it for free in their parking lot . : )

Wow I've never heard of that but I will definitely look into it

sounds like your tranny is starting off in second gear. Try putting the shifter to 1st gear and see if there is any change.

Here's one for cheap! http://www.amazon.com/Autel-MaxiSca...=UTF8&qid=1326675609&sr=8-1&tag=5336118857-20

I can manually shift it with gears 1 to 3.
The response is much better.

Start in first and shift to second, nothing happens, but shift to 3rd and the gears shift.

Stared feeling yesterday like that's what it could be, a lost gear. I'm hoping it has to do with my fluid being old and grungy,
I'm going to go Plato a tranny place after school today and see what he says

Bet your transmission is fine go remove your catalytic converter and replace it
sounds like you too have a clogged catalytic converter i too just had that problem a couple days ago. rule of thumb if your can get to the pipe before the cat take a sawzall to it and cut it off before the cat if it runs better theres your prob. if not your still out money for a tranny but honestly just had the same problem and thats exactly the same issue i had

So I took it down to Mr. Transmission, one of the shift cylonoids were hooped, and the gears were all burnt up. Rebuild was gonna cost me more than a used transmission.

Still cost me 1900$ I still haven't paid it off. I'm driving my '71 pontiac t-37
