Have 2000 Sonoma 4.3. Started with performing poorly cutting out, like it had a bad batch of gas. Than DTC code eventually appeared PO101 MAF sensor, cleared 2x's came back.Replaced MAF sensor with used at wreckers still gave DTC code PO101 MAF sensor tried 2nd one at wreckers no codes this time. Still bad performance cutting out like bad gas. replaced clogged fuel filter made no improvement. Noticed as drive attempts got worse eventually RPM's dropped severely and can't get faster than 30kms and passed second gear. Is this what they call Limp Mode and how do you get out of it. Did alot of research on this and see alot about Limp Mode but no answers to get out of it .Any advice would be appreciated thank you!
Turn the ignition keys to the run position (engine not running) then pull the ECM fuse out for 30 sec and place back in. Turn ignition keys off and wait 5 seconds, turn to run position for 30 seconds and then start the engine.
The engine may stall, but let it and don't touch anything. Just start the engine again, the PCM is relearning the sensors to your engine and transmission. Let the Sonoma idle till it reaches operating temperature and then go for a test drive. This should reset your PCM and clear all codes, keep us posted and inspect your MAF wire leads.![]()
