I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 4.3L v6 motor, the motor was running poorly and showed an error code P0305 for a misfire in cylinder 5. Had a mechanic take a look who told me it was most likely a plugs and wires issue, changed the plugs and wires and now the motor runs worse and makes a loud popping sound while idling, sounds like it's coming from the exhaust system just behind the engine, it sounds like a backfire but higher pitched. I am at loss for ideas, hopefully I can get some help here. Thanks!
