I'm fairly new to this forum so it could be that I'm asking a question that has been asked and answered many times. If that is the case, please forgive me and blame it on my being a Newbie. At any rate, I have a 2008 5.3 Liter GMC Sierra 4X4 Z71 SLT Club Cab in Grey Stealth Metallic. It has a 1.5" Skyjacker Lift on the front; K&N Intake System and Flowmaster Exhaust. Otherwise it is stock including the factory wheels.

Despite the intake and exhaust upgrades, I am disappointed in the truck's power. My wife has a bone stock 2011 Honda Pilot with a V6 that will beat it off the line!! Any experience here with power enhancements that will not void the drive train warranty?

I love the truck. It is a great ride and in my eyes I've never seen a better looking truck. So, I want to keep it as long as possible. I just want more power!!:D

I all honesty the 5.3L Active Fuel Management engine is not for hot-rodding. Its designed to be a fuel economy engine although many would agrue its not. You are throwing money away trying to get 10-20 more HP from a 5.3L which is basically all the add-ons you can buy such as exhaust, cold air intakes etc are going to give you. Also note, if you go up in tire size over stock, then all the power you added on are taken away by the drop in rear axle ratio as a result of increasing tire size.

You need to move up to the 403hp 6.2L engine, thats were the power is.

I think you are right. And, unfortunately the exhaust and intake systems I've already installed have done nothing to improve MPG. I struggle to get 15 MPG even on the highway!!! Oh well. An engine swap in this truck would be stupid financially. So, will enjoy the truck as is and look to upgrade power when I get a new one.
