I need a new motor for my 95 Jimmy and all the used motors with low miles are for a 2001-2002. Does anyone know the differences in motors between these years and if it would be possible to swap in a newer motors even if I had to change a bunch of parts over from my old motor.

I'm mainly concerned with if the oil pan is the correct size and shape, if the motor mounts are in the same places, are the electronics the same and will it bolt up to the transmission.

Thanks

you can make the 2001 engine fit but you will have to change out the knock sensor. it is the only major difference in the newer model engines. the knock sensor on the older engines are slightly larger and have a larger bolt that mounts them to the engine block. you can make the bolt hole larger on the newer engine to make the existing knock sensor work.

And it is also possible that you will have to use your existing oil pan on the newer engine.
