My 1996 GMC Sonoma overheated now wont start? why?

i was driving around and i heard a ticking sound and a buring of plastic smell so i pulled over and relized my temp gauge was at 210 f. So i let it cool off then checked my antifreeze and therre was none. so i filled it back up and now it wont start. what could be wrong??

Bad news could be a cracked head or blown head gasket, Check the engine oil, if it is overfull and milky or foamy looking, then you've done the worst. The ticking noise was the pistons going up and down in the cylinders with no lubrication, It wont turn over now because the engine is locked down due to having water/antifreeze in the cylinders and the rings overheating and melting to the Cylinda wall. All the antifreeze is gone because it went through the cracked head or head gasket and into the oil pan. Might need a new motor, very least, a rebuild and new heads and head gaskets, but it sounds like the damage is catastrophic
