my 2001 GMC Sierra won't start on the first key turn?

The engine starts fine after the 2nd key turn.
The battery is new and the starter sounds normal.

Probably leaky fuel check valve at the pump. I added a inline check valve near the filter. Check the pressure to see if it's holding.
