This only (but not occasionally) happens when ever i'm making a "hard" turn. For example making a slow but small U-Turn. No i never let the steering wheel go all the way.

What happens is that the engine shuts off, the break pedal gets hard and the steering tightens up (lol). But all electronics are still on. I have to put the gear back in park, turn off the truck, and turn it back on again.

I really need to know whats causing this to get it fixed before it causes me to get into an accident.
I know its part of GM. And the only recall i got from my dealer was to go get the speedometer fixed, which i got fixed a month before the letter arrived. But now the dealer is out of business. I've also owned the truck for 5 years. What would you recommend i do, fix it (if so i need part list) or go to a shop (estimate)?

well first off its a chevy.second they had a recall for the steering pressure relief valve failing.when you crank the tires all the way against the lock it does release the pressure so instead it stalls the engine.
