1996 gmc sonoma while excelerating truck wouldnt excelerate any more and check ingine light and check gages turned on. when i pulled over truck shut off when i tryied to start it back up truck started but then shut back off. truck lost power put then it came back did that three times and the mph gage jumped to 50 and whent back down now it wont start and it just clicks when i turn key.

There is to many things that can cause what you have described, best thing to do is to go and loan out a scanner from Auto Zone and scan your Sonoma for the DTC codes, it could be a bad crank shaft sensor to a bad ICM ( ignition control module) to even a bad oil pressure sending unit.
It can get very costly guessing on what parts to replace to address the issue to your Sonoma. Keep me posted and be glad to help you get your Sonoma running 100% again soon.
