I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 3500 classic 8.1L. I can not locate a proportioning valve, GM part # 12548278, (AC Delco part # 172-2243). All avenues say it is discontinued. This is my Bucket Truck work vehicle with the Hydroboost brake system. I have had it to a dealer 4 x, costing a ton of $$$$ each time and they are not correcting the issue. To date calipers replaced 2x, rotors 2 x, brake pads 4 x , all new rubber brake hoses and all new high pressure and return lines from the power steering pump have been installed. All in under 10000 miles.

I can smell that the brakes are hot, when I drive, which makes me think they are hanging up for some reason. And my braking capability fades (hot brakes) Dealer tech says its because I'm towing "something heavy". (He's saying that because he can see the receiver on the back of the truck) I actually yelled at the tech this last visit, for making such an inaccurate claim. Although, I do occasionally tow a 2990# trailer, and I have a brake controller but don't tow anything heavy enough to need it.

The brake hot smell is every time I drive the truck, trailer or not. I want to replace all the upper brake system parts but can't find them. Help with obtaining these parts would be greatly appreciated. Dealer is no help at all.
