Need Help Fast, 98 Gmc Sonoma?

1998 Gmc Sonoma with the 2.2 liter 4cyl, Ok got back from driving, i drove to the store, and to dollar general, did fine, come home, and i was going to take the trash up, and when you turn the key all the nights come up fine, the radio works fine, like everything is fine, and when you go to turn the key like your trying to start it it sounds like a vacuum, like it sounds like a vacuum is on, i checked the oil, it said it need 1 quart, Could the motor be gone, i have to run a friend to the hospital tomorrow, PLEASE HELP, thank you
sorry i ment to say LIGHTs, also has 138k miles,.

The starter may not be engaging all the way into the flywheel. Its hard to know for sure without hearing the sound myself. If you can reach the starter motor, I would try tapping on the starter motor with a hammer to see if you can get it unstuck.
