I have a 2000 GMC sierra with a 4.8 custom dump bed, leveling kit, add leafs, oversize tires, K&N intake, superchips programer, and true dual exhaust. I plan to put headers on soon but would like some info on what kind to buy and what else could I do to gain more horsepower?

Swap out your cam for batter performance with the exhausts upgrades.

Good luck and keep us posted. ;)

Cam is always a good bonus. I'm not familiar with the newer heads, but perhaps you can port those for better air flow?

As for headers, shop around on www.summitracing.com and you'll get tons. There's no brand that's better than the other anymore. It's merely on the quality of materials used, such as cheap stainless steel, better stainless steel that won't turn blue within 100 miles, and ceramic coated (the best). Keep in mind you do get what you pay for in most cases.

The 4.8puts out good HP numbers stock, so even with those mods you won't exceed 340hp at the crank. If you want to dive more into engine upgrades, SCT is the programmer to get, as it's fully customized for the mods you've done. I bought one for my Dodge, and won't look back on my old Superchips!
