Hi all!

I own a 2007 new style sierra crew cab with the vmax 6.0 that developed a bad misfire around 117k that is noticable at any RPM. I have had this truck to 2 dif. dealerships and they soaked me for injector cleanings(2 in less than 60 days), new plugs, wires, oil changes before they were due and of course all at my expense for them to trial and error the cause of this misfire.

This truck has constantly gone back for another attempt to diagnose the problem and now has 140k and quickly approching the end of my powertrain warranty.

Last wednesday i dropped the truck off because the battery was done, the center leaf was broken from hauling a light uhaul trailer and of course the misfire problem. when i picked up the truck on friday, none of the work had been done and my oil change was not done. It was 4:45 and they rush 2 guys on the truck to at least change the oil. Great job on the oil change...i have oil all over my engine, no lube job to the joints, the oil minder is not reset but here's what is: MY ENGINE HOURS METER IS!!

I call GM CANADA to bitch and complain, and find out it's none resetable... that i must either be reading it wrong or my info center is broken or something. it now reads 43.7 hrs so i highly doubt its got broken leds or anything.

Here are my questions: ideas on the misfire? (btw GM has already replaced all 16 lifters)

Does anyone know how to test the coil packs on this engine or think they might be my problem and gm doesnt want to warranty them at 200 a piece x8?

and as for the hour meter???

Also be advised this truck runs like crap, has no power even when right to the floor and has been tested for bad cats etc.

i bought it cuz it went like snot, im tired of being beat by the "other guys"!!

please help! I know im getting the run around and wanna know how to beat them at their own game and get my warrantied truck fixed right at THEIR expense!! i can answer any other questions anyone might have if i forgot something!

Cheers, Marc

well here is what i would do ;)
Go back to the dealer and speak with the service manger only! go to his office and tell him about the bad service your getting. Have him pull up the history and explain it to you and why that work was done. Then nicey tell him you STILL have the same skip and ask why can't they fix it.

Next tell him your not being a d**k you just want your tk fixed and am tired of the parts being changed to see if the problem is fixed. Ask them who is there best tech and ask if they can have him/her (dought it will be a her but u never know)fix the tk. Don't say this to him. Becaues at a dealer there are many diffent mechanics. It's like the lottery as far as who fixes your car or tk.
there some that just want to turn hours and don't care about your car.
there some that are just dumb and can't fix it.
there some that just want to upsell work you don't need to make money.
there some that will take the time and diag it and fix it correty and care about there work and the cust. (this is rear in a dealer ship) but this is most of the time the best tech in the place.

so go have a chat with him and if you get no where then call GM and start the bit chen:eek:

HAPPY, your insane, a mechanic would never ever try to make all the hours they can. i mean, cmon, all mechanics can be trusted, i never have a heard of an untrusty mechanic....hahaha

what i would do is get a multi meter and find out what the specs are for the coils and check them urslef next i would go to a autoparts store that will check your pcm for codes for free and go from there
