Hi, I'm Frank. I own a1997 Gmc sierra slt extended cab. Z71, 5.7. With 119,000 original miles. I joined this forum last year, then forgot to introduce myself. I have just done the dreadful lower intake gasket fix and injector upgrade to this truck. My mechanical background has mainly been on SBF in my 91 mustang, so this was a new experience for me. I have to say, other than unplugging and moving stuff around to get at the manifold, it wasn't that bad. Hell I even got the distributor put in right for it to fire right up afterwards. My only concern is that I don't have the proper scan tool to check the timing. I live in northern California near the Sacramento area, and need to smog this truck. As of right now there is no service engine light on, and no other codes are present. Should I seek a shop out to check the timing before smogging it?
