Hows it going, bought a work truck yesterday for my start up landscaping business, and would like to get a few things sorted. First off id like to formally introduce myself, ive been active on a few bmw forums as well as subaru forums. I normally like to buy and restore classic euros, however i had to go american when it came to my business. My truck is a 1988 GMC sierra 1500 reg cab 8ft bed. Its got the normal rear arch rust, but she runs like a champ. Heres what needs to be done in short order, and where my questions arise-
The rear drivers side running/brake light is intermittent with the blinker toggle on the steering column, as i wiggle the switch, i can get a running light. However, when i depress the brake, i lose all light in the drivers tail. Also, when i put my left blinker on, the front and rear blinkers are fast, and the rear is dim. Could i have multiple shorts, or is it just the toggle that needs to be replace? How difficult is it to get to the blinker switch assembly?
Also, the brakes take a little force to stop the truck. they are engaging as you depress the brake, however you really gotta push hard to get any signifigant stopping power. Is this normal? Should i bleed the brakes? any other ideas?
Other than that, the exhaust is strung together with coathangers, and the obvious rust issue.
Again, glad to introduce myself, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again -Rusty
