Hey Everyone,

Just bought a 2007 GMC Sierra with a 5.3L engine and I'm ready start modding it to increase the HP. So far the only aftermarket performance mod is a cat back exhaust. What else can i do to increase the HP?

Headers and a Cam? I'm lookin in to possibly super charge my 99 5.3L

You want more HP, trade it in and buy one with the 6.2L engine with 403hp. It will cost you less in the long run and you won't have to keep throwing $ at it for a few extra HP you probably won't even notice.

You can spend hundreds of $$ adding things to the 5.3L and you will never get far. Granted the exhaust and CAI will make more noise and give you a feeling of more HP but its still a 5.3L engine.

I bought the truck because its a regular cab short box 4x4. Hard to find even with a 5.3L so trading it in isn't really an option for me. What Brand of intake and chip should i get? Ive heard Edge Chips are pretty good but have no clue when it comes to cold air intakes

Where I live I go to 4wheel parts and me personally, I thought about going with an Airaid Intake with matching throttle body spacer

Throttle body spacers don't do anything for a vehicle unless it is in full throttle position.

What is full throttle position? And when would my truck be in full throttle position? Sorry for all the questions but im pretty much a noob when it comes to stuff like this.

Thanks in advance everyone

Its means the gas pedal is pushed as far as it can go, running wide open, racing for instance.

Cold air intakes, performance exhaust, throttle body spacers will have little to no effect in ordinary driving. Only when you are racing will there be some performance increase and then it will be minimal. Maximum HP is at over 5,000 rpm and racing it the only time you drive that hard.

Okay thanks for the help. I think ill just get the chip right away and possible look at getting the cold air intake and throttle body spacer in the future
