New Owner/Member (not planned), GMC Jimmy

Hello all,

Yes, it was not planned. Not that I would have ever bought a GM product, my neighbor sold the vehicle and asked me first. The condition (no rust on body), low mileage (105,000), everything working (it is fully loaded) and the price led me to purchase it.

It needed front wheel bearings (I simply had the whole wheel hub assemblies replaced) as well as upper and lower ball joints.

Can't wait to take it on the road (no blacktop needed ) and actually drive it. The seating position for the driver (me) is awkward, but oh well.

Oh, forgot to mention, it is a 1999 GMC Jimmy SLT. And I actually found out that it is not fully loaded, the manual shows a rear entertainment center which it does not have. I sure can live with that!

i just bought a jimmy from my neighbor also its a 1998 slt and also was not planned lol i couldnt pass it up it was a great price but i also got some suspension work done too it. ive done alot of driving on it so far and its great.

Mine probably needs shocks at some point as well, so far it is doing okay, so I save the money.

I had the dealer check it out (they did it for free). They found that the rear pinion seal and cover at the differential were leaking, and also 1 front axle seal. They charged me all together $360, just about what any other neighborhood mechanic quoted. Now I have the GMC warranty for lifetime (if the parts ever fail, they replace them for free).

I got All Terrain tires, my last average MPG was 19.6, but many told me that with regular tires you can easily go beyond 20.

What is the color on yours? I got the pewter one, I hate it. But I sit inside, so oh well. LOL
