I have heard that on a new truck I should see MPG improve once it is ‘broken in’ around 3000-5000 miles. Does anyone know if this is accurate, and if so, how much improvement I would expect to see? It is a 2022 Sierra 1500 with the 5.3. I appreciate any insight.

I have about 500 miles on my Elevation with 5.3 engine and am getting a consistent 22 mpg at 75 mph — about 2 mpg better than my 2012 Sierra with same engine.

What about in the city, traffic lights, etc?
