Just bought a 2010 Sierra SLE 1500 crew cab..
While stuck in the snow,in reverse its makes a clunking noise,
and seems to just bog down when I step on the gas..
Does this have something to do with the traction control.'?

It could, if the traction control is kicking in the light on the dash for it should flash, at least it did the only time it kicked in on my 2012. I was going forward at the time and was on ice. It does make a noise when it is working also.

Hello mikeg57,

I am sorry to hear that your Sierra is making a clunking noise in reverse and that it bogs down when you are stepping on the gas. Have you thought about taking your vehicle to a GMC dealership to have this concern looked into? I would be more than happy to assist you in setting up an appointment and working with a dealership to look further into this concern if you would like. Please feel free to private message me if you would like to discuss this concern further.

drum brakes in the rear?
it could be a broken brake shoe
broke shoe retainer pin or linkage dislocated
can you tell where the noise is coming from?

Well.I inquired and found the issue..When stuck in snow, shut off the Traction Control..When in reverse in snow or ice,the traction control cant decide which wheel to send the traction to,when both tires are slipping like crazy...
The lack of power is a built in safety feature,to keep you from blowing the rearend up when the Traction control is engaged.. Now I know...

I'm glad you found the problem , caused by the traction control . It reminds me of my 1968 Chevy pickup truck . In 1977, I got stuck in the snow in my driveway, and I was " rocking" the truck back and forth trying to get free. The 3 speed manual transmission locked up solid , so that the wheels would not
turn . I think you can get these transmissions into first and reverse simultaneously under the right conditions. I gave up, and dragged the truck back into the weeds with my tractor. There the truck still sits, unmoved for 37 years, now surrounded by several large trees. ( It was a horrible piece of rust and dents in 1977, so little was lost. )
