Hi, new to the forums and im having some issues. Let me start by saying im not the most mechanical person. Thats why im going to school for electrical. lol. But I do go to my dads when I need help and he's willing to help me out.
I have a 1993 GMC Sonoma. v6 4.3L(the higher one, think its 4.3). It is in pretty good shape. Was kept up by my uncle who was a gmc mechanic. handed down to me. Ive had it for a year or 2 now. but to the point.
I had an error code 35 Idle Speed error
It starts up pretty rough when its cold. Makes some clanking noise.
at times (kinda often) it goes CLANK CLANK CLANK on left turns
It makes this loud high pitch squealing noise most of the time. dims down with acceleration. Usually starts once its warmed up.(took off belt and made same noise. coming from under air filter?)
Dash says it overheats but it really doesn't. gauge fluctuates(did this since b4 I had it) video--->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAHEcxlSVHk
Battery gauge is kinda high?
Oil gauge inaccurate?
It has new tires, just changed the air filter. Needs front breaks changed(goes squeak squeak squeak)
Has about 164,000 miles. I keep up with the oil changes probably more than I need to. I think it has a little bit more tranny fluid than it should, gonna drain some soon.
Changed the back left break cylinder, still have to change the back right. Also, the brake fluid could to be flushed, was black, but we bleed some of it out and put some new fluid in.
Sorry for the length. I realize some of these are petty, I mainly would like to know how to fix the major stuff. Then i'll work on the petty stuff. gotta take care of my ride.
But if anyone knows how to fix these problems. Please let me know.
Also, im all for preventive maintenance. If someone knows some tips of some stuff I could do that would be greatly appreciated.
