Ok, I need everyone's input here. It has been about two weeks since I had my transmission services and I noticed yesterday when checking all my fluids that teh transmission seems to be filled a little over the line.(maybe a 1/16th of an inch, possibly less) I have read in the owner's manual to NEVER overfill. Is this something that I need to have siphoned out immediately or what? I need some expert advise on this one, so I am not spending a lot of money on a new tranny. Thanks.

Just to make sure we are on the right page, is the transmission fluid checked with the engine running and in the normal operating temperature?? The readings will always be higher when the engine is not running cause the transmission pump is not circulation the fluid.

Once the engine is running and the transmission is warmed up, the fluid should be check and will drop to the right level then when it's check when the engine is not running.

If the fluid was checked when the engine is running at idle, then your going to have to siphon out some of the fluid out to bring it out to get it to the right level.

What happens is when there is to much fluid is that the fluid will foam up causing the transmission fluid pressure to drop and that's when your transmission starts to slip due to lack of pressure on the bands.

Good luck and keep us posted. ;)

Molson,

Yes I checked it Hot and Cold and both readings were showing overfilled. Any suggestions on how to siphon it out. I have not been able to find any siphon with a hose long enought.

It seems that the owners manual for the 07 model year would agree with Molson on this one. It does have one extra step though. You are to turn on the vehicle and then go through the gear shifts on the transmission (with your foot on the brake the whole time) pausing about 3 seconds on each gear selection and to then return the shifter to park. After that you check the fluid level to make sure it is where it should be. The full process for this should be outlined in your owners manual for your particular model year vehicle. If you need more assistance checking the fluids I would speak with your dealership about the procedure as well. I hope this information helps you.
