I have an 96 jimmy, on 100 degree weather days, it starts to overheat. Could it be the clutch fan going out. Its a little hard to turn when cold. Then it loosens up a little then gets hard to spin again. I changed the thermostat, radiator, and prestone out. Could it be the fan clutch?

Mite be but I'd do this before I bought a new one :
Test the system -
remove the radiator cap
idle motor
Norm is 190 ( I believe )
Does thermostat open ? do you see coolant flowing freely ?
Does the fan kick on and spin at a steady speed until the temp drops ?
Does it wobble ?
Also - are the radiator cooling fins clear of debris ?

OK... old thread, but hoping to revive this. 2000 Jimmy Overheating issue.
Drained and flushed coolant system last night. Replaced both radiator hoses, & new T-stat. Held off on replacing water pump seemed fine. Fan turns on right away and keeps going, seems fine. Hoses are warm in/out. Drove around a bit after, seemed fine. Drove about 20 miles to work today, overheat and leaking fluid. Hissing sound when I turned the engine off. Coolant everywhere. Looks like radiator, not water pump. Any other suggestions to confirm without tearing everything apart?
