On my 96 Jimmy, I have been having an issue with a rough idle (feels like wants to stall and seems to miss) lately but have not had any error codes or engine light. That is until today when I got the P0753 Code indicating a bad Shift solenoid A the 1-2 one. Now it still seems to be shifting though. I mean it has the rough idle and seems to lack power from a stop like might be starting from 3rd, but still feels like it shifts more than once. also when I am around 40 to 55 mph I am only at 1500RPM and feels like it's in OD however if I make a turn such as a bend it feels like it kicks down out of OD and as soon as I straiten out it goes back in. Really weird. Anyway I am in process of changing plugs and wires (started that before code), i just do not have much time or daylight since it is dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. From what I see a lot of people get this code in conjunction with about 5 other codes and their problem is the ignition switch or harness, however I am just getting the one code. Thanks.

I did the seafoam using the spray through the throttle body, no change and did not really smoke like some people claim. Air filter is K&N which I recharged less than two weeks ago, also cleaned MAF Sensor. Distributor cap was loose and of course threads stripped in distributor but I have it secured now. Cap and rotor were replaced in February.
