Hi guys, so I am painting for the first time and am a complete newb. I originally tried to roll on paint with Rustoleum, did alright with sanding, then realized on my 2nd coat that I was using a lint roller... Much to my dismay, it left lint and debris all over (literally all over) the soaking wet paint.. So I completely restarted (hood). Bought foam rollers, completed resanded the whole hood down, and started over. Well when I first went to sand the bad 2 coats off, I used 40 grit sandpaper. (I have been all over the internet looking for good sanding advice and one guy said use 40 to get thick coats off) I did not know this would leave such bad scratches that show up through the 2nd coat. I am now realizing that I cannot simply make the scratches go away with more paint. So what would you guys do if you have scratches (from 40 grit) showing up in the base coat and 2nd coat?
