Parking Brake won't engage

My parking brake won't stay engaged when depressed.

Just comes right back up without any click or ratcheting noise.

Anyone have similar experiences or have a 'fix' for this.

Parking Brake Part Number

Hey Guys.

Have answered my own question and thot I would share the info.
Hope this helps someone.

Parking brake foot lever/assembly was broken and would not 'catch' to hold the parking brake in place.

GMC part number for foot lever assembly is: GMC 15016010.

MSRP is just at $61.00 USD, was able to buy it at local GMC/Chevy dealer, for $40.00. The parts guy gave my the 'garage discount' just for asking for it.

Removing the assembly was 2 bolts and 1 nut, and disconnect the cables and and electrical sensor. Just took a little mechanical ability and giggling of parts.

Then the parking brake shoe adjustment at each wheel was needed.

Hey Pops, would it be possible to get some insturctions on what you did. I cant afford to go to the garage and my parking break clicks but does not engage. The peddal just comes back up when I step on it
