I replaced the alternator on my 1999 Savana van (5.7l, 1500, 106,000 miles). I had no problems with the replacement. When I went to start the van, it started right up, but shut off when I let go of the key. Searching on the Internet, some suggested that I had a Passlock problem. I did the: turn the key to ON for 10 minutes (until the Security light goes out); shut off for 5 seconds; repeat this 3 times; and then the van should start. People have told me that I have a bad ignition switch, but I find it hard to believe that the ignition switch would fail just because I replaced the alternator. Any ideas here would be appreciated!
