Performance or Fuel consumption improvement

I have a 2016 Sierra with the 5.3l V8. I'm thinking about changing to the K&N cold air intake to improve fuel consumption especially while hauling a travel trailer. I have read the "claims" of performance improvements, but I'm more interested in some real world experience.
Has anyone out there seen any benefits after changing the cold air intake or is this all marketing?

shorty headers and CAI did not help fuel economy BUT a noticeable improvement in towing my camper

i have a heavy foot on the gas pedal for a 61 yr old man
i an doing 15.1 miles to the gallon right now,
my truck has a Diablo tuner with a custom tune from 'Diablo Lew'
Me and my friends call it 'My Race Truck'
I have never done better than 15.3 miles to gallon and i have owned my truck since new
