I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 6 cylinder with 87,000 miles.
Lately I notice that if I turn on my defroster, set to warm, my windshield will start to fog up. I also get the smell of antifreeze. I think I've got an issue with the heater core.
Has anyone else run into this issue with these trucks?
Thanks.

Brian

Hey Brian,

Welcome to the forum! Sorry that you are experiencing a windshield fog issue when your defroster is turned on and that you are smelling antifreeze. If you would like your local GMC dealer to look into this for you, please let me know so I can assist with setting up a service appointment for a vehicle diagnosis. I can be reached via private message to further discuss your situation and are more than happy to assist anyway that I can.

Yes, sounds like your heater core is going or gone bad. Do you smell the radiator inside the vehicle when you turn on the heat in the font vents as well? If so, I'm sure its probably the core. You have to remove the entire dash to get to it though. Maybe pay a mechanic to do it if your not so inclined.
