We just had our 2011 Acadia SL(recently purchased used with about 150k miles on it) in to the dealer for a semi-synthetic oil change(I know- taking it to a dealer is risking them telling you something needs to be replaced that may not). Sure enough, they came back and told us the power steering pump is leaking and needs to be replaced, giving us a quote of a bit over $1000. To be honest, we noted the power steering fluid was a bit low recently after it seemed a bit noisy and we added fluid. Also, I saw multiple instances of recall stories(that I wasn't clear whether or not they applied to this car or not) and saw several people saying they had to replace the whole steering rack(significantly more expensive yet) Does anyone have a similar car to this one and have had to replace the power steering pump? If so, if you don't object, could you please share about how much it cost you, too? I'd really like to know if what they're telling me is reasonable or not. Thanks much in advance!

Is it really that rare to have to replace a power steering pump? I got the impression, reading several things online, that this wasn't all that uncommon for these engines. Please comment if you've ever had to replace your power steering pump, even if your year and model is different....thanks!
