wondering if anybody on here are running projector head lights ? i do a lot of night highway driving and was wanting to updated my headlights . are they better than stock or worst ?

I would never because the ones I see driving down the road look like junk and many are very annoying to on-coming traffic as they are never adjusted right. Most are cheap made in china junk. Seems to be the rage with younger drivers, especially in my area because I see falling apart pos cars/trucks etc with these kinds of lights on them. There is one in my area who is especially annoying with those lights.

I did this mod along time ago and love it. I bought new OEM Denali headlights and installed (i forgot the brand) but good high quality ballests starters and bulbs. The factory lights work great with a nice sharp cutoff. I bought 54k or 6000k and gives it a little blue tint looks great. I just put on a new lift and now have to wait till dark to readjust the lights. I goolged them the other day and saw them for around 250$ I paid over 500 9 yrs ago
good luck

I run projector lights with HID bulbs installed. They work like a charm for lighting the road at night. The ones I have are very easily adjustable, they have 3 screws/bolts that are turned to adjust various directions.

I'm running just HID blubs in the stock housings and they work like a champ. I'm running 8k 35W from DDM Tuning (http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim-Ballast-35W-or-55W) and I love them. Have talked with friends of mine who have seen my truck coming towards them and they say they aren't too bad for on coming traffic. I'm only running them in my low beams and i never need my highs. Hope this helps.

I've been checking into getting projectors for my '07 Sierra Classic. I wanted to retrofit, but I possess neither the technical skills nor cash to get a proper retrofit done. Talked to a couple places that do it. You need clear lenses (stock are 'fluted' to scatter light) and several hundred dollars to buy proper HID projectors. It seems all the brands you can buy - Spyder, Anzo, Depo, etc. are all designed for halogen lights and have no cut-off shield to block the beam from blinding other drivers. I don't like the performance of halogen lights after having my last two cars with HIDs installed in the stock housings. I just know that now I have a truck that sits higher and I always got dazzled when a truck or SUV with HIDs installed with or without projectors came at me on two-lane roads. I guess now I just don't want to be 'that guy', you know?

So what I'm ultimately asking is this: did GM make any OEM projectors that ran HIDs on the old body style Denalis (Yukon or Sierra)? If so I've got a 5000k kit to buy from VVME.

Thanks.

My stock head lights are bright enough driving on dark roads out of town,

Driving in town I see alot of those damn blue lights and have to squint my eyes so I won't get blinded by the oncoming vehicle. I think in Canada the max wattage you can use is 55 w on head light?

they are annoying in my opinion.

I think my HDI's are 35 watts with factory projector lens, dont know for sure anymore. I look and I can't tell if projector HD were available for any 2007 Sierra or Toho. And with my 2001 I don't think you can buy OEM anymore so you have to go after market

I agree. The blue, ricer lights are annoying. When I had my Magnum I ran 5000k in 55w which was annoyingly bright, but the housings on that rig were fairly good and they were clear so not much stray light went above the err, cut-off. 5000k is what I'd do on my truck just 35w. I may have found some Denali projectors that are on ebay. I found some pics on GMFS and they look pretty good: [Click me]

Don't waste your money on the cheap eBay HID kits, they just blind everybody else and give HID a bad name. Get a decent kit that has a properly designed projector lens.

I heard about a guy who bought aftermarket (halogen) headlights with clear lenses, and cut holes in the back of the reflectors so he could mount original-equipment GM HID projectors. (from a Corvette or Cadillac I think) It was tricky for him to mount the projectors and seal them in the housings, but the light output was just like original equipment and they looked great.

i just installed mine and love them. has the projector frame so the driverside of the road is lower then the left so it doesnt blind oncoming traffic. yet driving you cant tell

A lot of the issues with people saying they are blinded by the blue HID lights are cause people don't take the time to aim them. Like I said, I have the 8k 35W set up from DDM, and they are perfect. I've talked with people who have seen my truck head on on the road and they said they can tell a difference of course, but they are not blinding cause I have them aimed right. When I turn on both lows and highs at the same time, the cut off line from the top of the lows is right at the bottom of the highs. Just make sure you take the time to do it right and you won't have any issues.

i did this before and it didn't work out at first, good thing my brother helped me. I almost messed up my ride.
