I am looking to buy my first Truck, and I found a used 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT Z71 4x4. This truck is fully loaded (Towing package, heated leather seats, memory key, power every thing, tonneau cover incl... you get the point).

This truck is selling for $14,366.00 w taxed safety e-test plated and on the road. The thing that has me worried is that the odometer reading is over 200,000km's.

Is this Sierra a good deal? Is it over priced? What should this truck sell for? How long should it last me until it kicks the bucket? What Do I need to look for to make sure I'm not buying a lemon? Thanks!

What size engine is it??? 5.3 vortec is about right, if it's a 4.8 vortec then it's on the high side. Also when or if you do buy it, make sure you service the coolant and transmission, transfer-case and differential fluids to ensure your going to have a long trouble free ride.

The other area that you are going to have to inspect is the fuel line, brake line and transmission lines for corrosion. Keep also in mind that at 200,000 km, your at the point where the fuel sending unit has reached it's expected life of service and will need to be replaced soon. Just a little FYI. :D

Good luck and keep us posted.
