Hey everyone, I have a few questions about my truck and im hoping someone can help out. First of all I just baught one of them small campers that calapse and close. The trailer is on two wheels and my guess it weighs about 1000 pounds. I dont have a hitch except for the bumper which is rated for 6500 lbs (so it says in my book) and im a little nervous to hook this trailer onto the bumber. I have already cut the hole in the bumper and have the right ball hitch on the truck but my main question here is will this pull my trailer with no problems? or should i go buy a hitch? I dont even know if the 6500 lbs rating is for this built in bumper hitch or just what the truck can tow with a regular hitch on the back... someone help plz. last thing i need is a trailer flying down a mountain into some poor guy behind me.

if you have the money to get one installed or the knowledge to do it your self i would go with the hitch receiver under the bumper... its way easier to manage, lots of different accessories for different types of towing and its way more dependable... but if all your gonna tow with the truck is the camper the bumper mount should work just fine.... hope this helps... i tow alot of things with my '01 sierra z71 such as loads of wood, dirt bikes and quads, and even vehicles... i have the hitch reciever under the bumper and its all i use.
